Last month we mentioned our Charity of the Quarter, MHA Methodist Homes for the Aged, one of the UK’s largest charities and one that provides care, accommodation and support services for older people throughout England, Scotland and Wales.
On 20th October, in aid of MHA, a small team of shentongroup’s fittest comprising Lorraine John, James Norman and Kenny Matley tackled the Great South Run; an annual 10-mile road running race in Portsmouth. As well as promoting awareness of the MHA cause, the team also raised an impressive £890.00 plus Gift Aid for MHA.
The Great South Run is an ideal race for intermediate-distance runners. Launched in 1990, it’s part of the Great Run series created by former British athlete Brendan Foste. shentongroup’s Lorraine John commented: “The weather on the day was beautiful and ideal for running. The entire team put their all into the event and we’re grateful to all who supported us in spirit and through sponsorship donations that all go to MHA Methodist Homes for the Aged”.
MHA operates 12 schemes throughout the Hampshire and Surrey region that share a common aim of reducing the isolation and loneliness experienced by many older people across the country. Schemes include befriending services, exercise clubs, social clubs, day trips and holidays.
The shentongroup team would like to extend their thanks to all those who have already sponsored us.
