Reliable CHP Maintenance for Biogas & Waste-to-Energy Plants

Maximising uptime and efficiency is critical for biogas and waste-to-energy facilities — every hour of downtime impacts revenue and sustainability targets. At Shenton Group, we have many years of experience partnering with biogas sites, ensuring they remain operational around the clock through specialist CHP maintenance built for the specific demands of anaerobic digestion and waste-to-energy environments.

Why CHP Maintenance Matters for Biogas Plants

  • Maximise Revenue – High availability ensures consistent energy generation and income.
  • Protect Your Investment – Extend the life of your CHP system with expert maintenance.
  • Meet Sustainability Goals – Maintain optimal performance for greener energy production.

Our Expertise in Biogas & Waste-to-Energy

We specialise in maintaining CHP systems for demanding environments, offering:

  • High tolerance to H₂S for biogas applications.
  • Exceptional electrical efficiency for maximum output.
  • Long service life backed by proactive maintenance and optimisation.

Comprehensive Maintenance Packages

Our tailored maintenance programmes include:

  • 24/7 remote monitoring for real-time performance insights.
  • Flexible response levels, including some of the fastest in the industry.
  • Optimisation services to ensure maximum efficiency and ROI.

This combination delivers outstanding performance and very high availability, helping you achieve consistent output and profitability year after year.

What Makes Biogas CHP Maintenance Different

Standard CHP maintenance schedules aren’t built for the operating conditions inside a biogas or waste-to-energy plant. Anaerobic digestion produces biogas rich in hydrogen sulphide (H₂S), a corrosive gas that accelerates wear on engine components not specified for it. A maintenance program built for biogas needs to account for:

  • Fuel composition monitoring — biogas quality varies by feedstock, and engine settings need adjusting accordingly to protect efficiency and service life.
  • Corrosion-aware component scheduling — parts exposed to H₂S-rich gas typically need more frequent inspection than in a natural gas CHP application.
  • Availability-first response — because CHP downtime at a biogas site stops generation (and therefore income) immediately, response speed matters more here than in many other CHP applications.
