Scorpion safeguards power supply for RAC Auto Windscreens

RAC Auto Windscreens has ensured that when power cuts occur, its call centre will still be able to give immediate attention to customers by installing a state-of-the-art Generator and UPS system from integrated power solutions company, Scorpion Power Systems. This is the second Scorpion Generator and UPS to be installed at the company’s headquarters in Chesterfield. The new system has been purchased to safeguard the telephone and IT equipment at RAC Auto Windscreens, which has been built to cater for a 75% increase in Call Centre staff following the inception of the company by the RAC.

“Offering a 24/7 service to customers, it is important that we are fully protected from power cuts,” says Julian Breed, Facilities Manager. “We first installed a Scorpion Generator in 1996 because we were conscious that we could be vulnerable if mains power was either accidentally cut by the power supplier or as a result of off-site construction work.”

Based in RAC Auto Windscreens’ Head Office, the original Scorpion Generator is now protecting the IT and telephone equipment located in the sales, accounts and executive offices. The new system is guaranteeing that the company’s Call Centre networks are always powered up, thereby ensuring its 40 operators can always liaise between customers and RAC Auto Windscreens’ 850 fully equipped mobile units and 161 professional fitting centres.
