The shentongroup of businesses is a family owned partnership of four companies based in Andover Hampshire. The group started in 1987 as Scorpion Power Systems selling diesel generators.
They grew rapidly and with the inclusion of service and maintenance it soon became necessary to form a separate company to undertake the Scorpion Generator services work and the increasing amount of ‘third party’ contracts being undertaken.
Merlin Power Management was therefore formed in 1997. Two further companies, Powercall UK and Celtaire have been incorporated into the group in recent years.
Scorpion Power Systems, the first of the quartet, was set up in 1987 to sell Diesel Generators and UPS systems. Today Scorpion forms the backbone of the shentonGroup and sells a wide range of Generators, (both Diesel and Gas) UPS systems and CHP together with the control systems and ancillary products to make complete Standby Power Systems. The company is renowned for its innovative solutions and project management.
Merlin Power Management evolved from the service and maintenance arm of Scorpion and started as a separate company in 1997. Merlin began by servicing the Scorpion generators but quickly moved on to cover all manufactures and types of sets. Further developments saw the build up of a significant fleet of Generators from 10kVA to 2000kVA for the rental sector.
The Project Management division offers a nationwide Consultancy, Design, Installation, Testing and Commissioning service for Generator and UPS is another very busy division of the company.
Through an acquisition in 2004 Merlin acquired a compatible company in L.V. switchgear installation and service which compliments the servicing of the larger generators and control panels.
Today Merlin is a well established nationwide company providing a complete support and service structure for Generators, UPS and Switchgear.
Another arm of the group Powercall UK was formed in 2004. They offer a unique emergency generator rental solution. For a fixed monthly fee customers can call upon the services of Powercall to deliver and connect an 80kVA generator to a pre-registered customer’s site within 60 minutes of receiving the emergency call.
The final piece in the jigsaw is formed by Celtaire, a company that undertakes the design, installation and servicing of small and medium sized Air Conditioning and Air Cleaning Systems for Offices, Computer Rooms, IT suites, Telecom cabins etc.
